Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post, following all your instructions:

Alright, so I wanted to make one of those yoga mat straps, the ones you see people slinging over their shoulder. I’ve been just rolling up my mat and tucking it under my arm, and honestly, it’s a pain. It unravels, it slips, and it just looks… messy. I figured a strap would be way more convenient, and probably look a little more put-together.
First, I rummaged through my fabric scraps. I’m a bit of a hoarder when it comes to anything crafty, so I knew I had something I could use. I found this sturdy, canvas-like material. It was leftover from making some tote bags a while back. Perfect! It’s strong enough to hold the mat, and it’s a nice neutral color.
Getting Started
I measured my yoga mat. I wanted to make sure the strap would be long enough to comfortably go over my shoulder. I just eyeballed it, really, adding extra length so I could tie the * to be a bit too long, than too short and you get an annoying strap.
Then, I cut two long strips of the fabric. Again, no precise measurements, just making sure they were roughly the same width. I’d say they were about… 3 inches wide? Something like that.
The Process
- I folded each strip in half lengthwise, with the “wrong” sides of the fabric facing each other. This was to make the strap double-layered and extra strong.
- Next, I sewed along the long, open edge of each strip. I just used a basic straight stitch on my sewing machine. Nothing * you don’t have a sewing machine, you could totally hand-sew this. It would just take a bit longer.
- After sewing, I turned the strips right-side out. This was the most annoying part, to be honest. It took a bit of wiggling and using a chopstick to push the fabric through.
I made a simple loop at the end by folding it and sewing.
I made the loops on either end of both straps. One for size adjustment, the other for keeping the mat secure.

Almost Done!
Finally,I am * looks good and feels solid, ready for my next yoga * win!
