Alright, let’s talk about this core yoga mat I’ve been using. My old mat was getting pretty worn out, you know? Slipping around during downward dog, and honestly, not much cushion left for floor work, especially core stuff which I’ve been trying to do more of lately.

Getting Started
So, I started looking around. Didn’t want anything too fancy, just something solid, specifically good for those core exercises where you need stability. Saw this one labelled as a ‘core’ mat, figured I’d give it a shot. Ordering was simple enough, arrived rolled up in a box a few days later.
First thing I did was unroll it. It laid pretty flat right away, which was nice. Some mats stay curled up for ages. It had a bit of that new mat smell, not overpowering, but definitely there. I just left it unrolled in the spare room for a day or so, and it mostly faded.
First Impressions
- It felt denser than my previous mat. Heavier too.
- The texture seemed grippy, not sticky, but like it would hold well.
- Thickness was decent, felt like it would give enough cushion for my knees and back.
Putting it to the Test
My first session on it was mostly core work – planks, leg raises, some twists. I immediately noticed the difference in grip. Big difference. My hands and feet stayed put during planks, no gradual sliding which used to drive me nuts. That alone felt like a win.
The cushion was good too. Doing stuff on my back felt more comfortable, less pressure on the spine. Same for kneeling positions. It absorbed the impact well, felt supportive without being mushy, you know?
Living With It
Been using it pretty regularly for a few weeks now. It holds up. The grip is still excellent, maybe even better now it’s been ‘broken in’ a little. It doesn’t slide around on my wooden floor either, which is a huge plus. Some mats just travel across the room.

Cleaning is straightforward. I just wipe it down with a damp cloth after use, sometimes with a little bit of very mild soap if it got particularly sweaty. Seems to clean up easily, no weird stains or anything so far. It does show dust a bit because it’s a darker color, but that wipes right off.
The density means it provides a really stable base. Whether I’m doing yoga poses or specific core exercises, I feel grounded. It doesn’t stretch or bunch up under me when I’m shifting positions.
Overall, I’m pretty happy with this thing. It does what I wanted it to do – provides a stable, grippy, comfortable surface, especially good for all the floor-based core work. Didn’t break the bank either. It’s just a solid, reliable piece of kit. If you’re looking for something specifically to stop the slipping and give decent support during core workouts or general yoga, it’s definitely been working out for me.
