Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get back in shape, and honestly, going to the gym is just a pain. Traffic, waiting for equipment, you know the drill. So I figured, why not build a little home gym setup? Started small, just wanted something basic to get me going. That’s where the curling bar and dumbbell set came in.

First, I looked around online. Didn’t want anything fancy, just something that wouldn’t break the bank or fall apart after a few uses. Found a decent-looking set, nothing too crazy, just your standard adjustable dumbbells and a curling bar. I must say that I did not check a lot on the quality.
When the box arrived, It’s my mistake that I did not check the box carefully. Because it was heavy, I just took it inside.
I opened it up and started to place the staffs in my exercising room. It’s all pretty straightforward. You got your plates, the bars, and the little spinlock collars to keep everything in place. I did add those little rubber rings.
- Plates – different weights, so you can adjust.
- Dumbbell handles – two of those, obviously.
- Curling bar – the one with the curves, for, well, curls!
- Spinlock collars – super important, don’t lose these.
The next step,I loaded up some weight. I started to lift the bars and weights, because I did not notice one side was significantly heavier than the other side. The whole thing tilted, and one of the spinlock collars had gone, maybe inside the box.
So the final step, I searched and found one of the spinlock collars. Put it back and loaded up some weight. Started light, just to get a feel for it. Screwed on the collars, and gave it a few test curls. Felt pretty good! Then I did the same with the dumbbells. I just switched the plates, added some weight, and screwed on the collars.
I’ve been using them for a few weeks now, just doing some basic workouts. Bicep curls, tricep extensions, shoulder presses, you know, the usual stuff. It’s nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. Definitely better than sitting on the couch!

It is just a very normal experience for building up my home gym. Sharing the process and hope you enjoy it!
