Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get my yoga stuff organized for ages. My mat was always leaning against the wall, looking messy and getting in the way. I finally decided to do something about it and build a simple storage tube. This is how I did it, step-by-step. It was way easier than I thought!

Gathering My Supplies
First things first, I needed to get my hands on some basic materials. Nothing fancy, just stuff I could easily find. I didn’t want to spend a fortune, so I tried to use what I already had at home.
- A large cardboard tube: I got lucky – I found a sturdy one that used to hold wrapping paper, perfect size!
- Some fabric scraps: I had some leftover fabric from a previous project. You could use an old curtain or blanket, anything works.
- Scissors: Pretty obvious, needed these to cut stuff.
- Glue: I used regular craft glue, the kind that dries clear.
- Measuring tape: To make sure everything was the right size.
Prepping the Tube
The cardboard tube was a little beat up, so I spent a bit of time making it look presentable. I wiped it down with a damp cloth to remove any dust or dirt.
Covering the Tube
I measured the tube’s height and circumference. Then, I cut a piece of my chosen fabric that was a bit larger than these measurements. This gave me some extra fabric to work with, just in case.
I applied glue to the outside of the tube, working in small sections. Then, I carefully wrapped the fabric around the tube, smoothing it out as I went to avoid any wrinkles or bubbles. I overlapped the fabric at the seam and glued it down securely.
At the top and bottom of the tube, I folded the excess fabric inwards and glued it down, creating a neat, finished edge. It looked way better than I expected!
The Finished Product
And that’s it! It was seriously that simple. My yoga mat now has a nice, custom-made home. It looks so much tidier in the corner of the room, and I don’t have to worry about it unrolling or getting damaged. Super happy with how this little project turned out!
