Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get back in shape, and I figured a decent set of dumbbells would be a good start. I didn’t want to spend a fortune, but I also needed something that wouldn’t fall apart after a few workouts. I saw this CAP Barbell Dumbbell Set with Rack and thought, “Why not?”

First, I ordered it online. Pretty straightforward, nothing fancy there. It arrived in a couple of days, which was cool. The box was HEAVY, though. I definitely struggled a bit getting it inside my apartment.
Next up, unboxing. Everything was packed pretty tightly, which is good – no rattling around. There were the dumbbells, of course, ranging from 5 to 25 pounds, in 5-pound increments. They’re that classic hex shape, coated in rubber. Feels pretty solid, not cheap.
The Assembly
Then came the fun part – putting the rack together. Honestly, it wasn’t rocket science. The instructions were… okay. Not the clearest I’ve ever seen, but I managed. It’s basically just a few bolts and screws. I grabbed my trusty wrench and got to work.
- First, I laid out all the pieces to make sure I had everything.
- Then, I started connecting the side pieces to the base.
- After that, I screwed in the top supports.
- There are little rubber feet, that i attached last.
It took me maybe 20-30 minutes total. Not bad. The rack itself is pretty sturdy. It’s A-frame, so it doesn’t take up a ton of space, which is perfect for my small apartment.
Finally, I placed the dumbbells on the rack. They fit nicely, no wobbling or anything. The whole setup looks pretty good, actually. It’s not super fancy, but it’s functional and doesn’t look out of place in my living room.
So far, I’ve used the dumbbells for a few workouts. They feel good in my hands, the rubber coating is comfortable, and the weight feels accurate. I’m definitely happy with my purchase. It’s a solid, basic set that does exactly what I need it to do – help me get stronger without breaking the bank.
