Okay, so I finally took the plunge and got my daith pierced! I’d been eyeing it for ages, seeing all those gorgeous curved barbells on people, and I just had to have one. Let me tell you, the whole process was an experience, and of course, I documented it all.

Finding the Right Piercer
First things first, I needed to find a piercer I trusted. I’m kinda picky about who sticks needles in me, you know? So I did a ton of research, looked at online reviews, and stalked some Instagram profiles. Finally, I found this shop with amazing ratings and a piercer whose portfolio was chef’s kiss. I booked a consultation, just to get a feel for the place and make sure we vibed.
The Consultation
The consultation went great! The piercer was super chill and answered all my (many) questions. We talked about placement, jewelry options, and aftercare. I was definitely leaning towards a curved barbell, and they had a beautiful selection. We picked out a simple titanium one to start with – gotta keep it hypoallergenic!
Piercing Day!
I was SO nervous on the day of the actual piercing. I mean, it’s a needle going through your ear cartilage! I made sure to eat a good meal beforehand, ’cause who wants to faint on the piercing table? The piercer was awesome, though. They marked the spot, let me double-check it in the mirror, and talked me through the whole thing.
Honestly, the piercing itself wasn’t as bad as I expected. It was a sharp pinch, a bit of pressure, and then… done! It felt warm and throbbed a little, but nothing unbearable. They put in the curved barbell, cleaned everything up, and gave me detailed aftercare instructions.
The Aftercare Journey
- Cleaning: I’ve been religiously cleaning it twice a day with saline solution. Just soaking a cotton ball and gently wiping around the piercing. No twisting or turning the jewelry!
- Avoiding Irritation: This is the hard part. I’m a side sleeper, so I’ve been trying to sleep on my back, or using a travel pillow to keep pressure off my ear. No headphones, no hats, and definitely no touching it with dirty hands.
- Patience: Healing takes time. I’ve been told it can take anywhere from 6 to 12 months for a daith piercing to fully heal. I’m trying to be patient and just let my body do its thing.
Current Status
So far, so good! It’s been a few weeks, and the initial swelling has gone down. It’s still a little tender, but definitely manageable. I’m obsessed with how it looks. That curved barbell is just… swoon. I can’t wait until it’s fully healed so I can start experimenting with different jewelry!
If you’re thinking about getting a daith piercing, I say go for it! Just do your research, find a reputable piercer, and be prepared for a bit of a commitment to the aftercare. It’s totally worth it, though. I’m already planning my next piercing… maybe a helix to complement the daith? We’ll see!
