Hey guys, it’s your boy back with another piercing experiment. Today, I’m diving into the world of the “90 degree surface barbell.”
So, I started the day by gathering all my tools. I made sure to sterilize everything properly. Because, you know, safety first. I’ve seen enough piercing mishaps to know that’s not something you want to mess around with. You don’t want a nasty infection, trust me.
The idea behind this piercing is that the barbell has ends that curve up at a 90-degree angle. I read online that this design is supposed to be better for surface piercings. Less chance of it getting snagged on something or just migrating out of your skin. Sounds good, right?
I picked up a titanium surface bar for this one. It was pretty flat, around 0.02 inches thick. I went with titanium because it is light. That was the plan, at least, and it seemed to be recommended online.
Next, I marked out exactly where I wanted to place the piercing. A little bit of trial and error here. I moved the marker around until I found a spot that looked good and felt right. Once I was happy with the placement, it was go-time.
I took a deep breath and pushed the needle through, followed by the barbell. It wasn’t my first rodeo, so it wasn’t too bad, but no matter how many times you do it, it’s still a bit nerve-wracking. I have to say, the flat design of the bar did seem to make it a bit easier. It slid in pretty smoothly.
My Thoughts After the Piercing
- Initial Feel: After the initial sting, it felt pretty comfortable. No immediate irritation, which is always a good sign.
- Movement: I tried moving around a bit to see how it felt. It stayed put and didn’t feel like it was going to catch on anything, which was a relief.
- Look: I gotta say, it looked pretty cool. The 90-degree bend gave it a unique look compared to my other piercings.
It’s only been a day, so I’ll have to see how it heals up. But so far, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. The 90-degree design seems to be living up to the hype. If you’re thinking about getting a surface piercing, it might be worth checking out this type of barbell. I’ll keep you guys updated on how it heals! Catch you in the next one!
