Okay, so I’ve been hitting the gym lately, and I realized I needed to up my game at home too. I decided to grab a pair of 50 lb rubber hex dumbbells. Let me tell you, it wasn’t as simple as just walking into a store and picking them up.
First off, I did some digging online. I checked out a bunch of different brands, read reviews, and compared prices. It’s crazy how much the prices can vary! Some of these things are expensive. And the price isn’t just about the brand, you know? There’re other factors. Like, these dumbbells have a rubber coating, and I read somewhere that this actually adds to the manufacturing cost. Makes sense, I guess.
After all that research, I finally settled on a brand called PowerMax Fitness. They seemed like a good balance of quality and affordability. A lot of people were saying good things about them, like how they’re sturdy and have a good grip.
Now, actually getting them was another story. I ordered them online, and the waiting was the worst part! Every day, I was tracking the shipment, itching to get my hands on them.
Finally, the day came. The delivery guy showed up with this huge, heavy box. I was so excited that I helped him carry it inside. I ripped open that box like a kid on Christmas morning.
Getting Them Set Up
These dumbbells are pretty hefty, so I cleared out a space in my living room. I laid down a mat to protect the floor because these things are made with heavy-duty rubber heads. Good thing because they minimize noise, my neighbors will appreciate that, the walls in my apartment are paper-thin, they probably already hate me enough.
Then I started playing around with them. I did some bicep curls, some shoulder presses, you know, the usual stuff. Man, these things are solid. They feel really good in my hands.
My Workout Routine
I’ve been using them for a few weeks now, and I’m really happy with my purchase. I usually do a full-body workout three times a week. I incorporate the dumbbells into exercises like:
- Goblet squats: Holding one dumbbell close to my chest while squatting.
- Bench presses: Using the dumbbells instead of a barbell.
- Rows: Working my back muscles by pulling the dumbbells up.
- Lunges: Holding a dumbbell in each hand while lunging.
It’s been tough, but I’m already feeling stronger. I can definitely lift more than when I first started. It’s a good feeling, seeing progress like that.
I am also thinking about getting a rack to store these bad boys, it will make the room look neater and keep me more organized.
Anyway, that’s my story about getting my 50 lb rubber hex dumbbells. It was a bit of a process, but totally worth it. If you’re thinking about getting some, I say go for it! Just be prepared for a bit of a workout just getting them to your place!
