Okay, so let’s talk about my little adventure with the Barbel Steed in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. This whole thing started because I was on a mission to complete my fish collection, you know, gotta catch ’em all!
I did some digging online, and the word on the street was that the Barbel Steed is a pretty common fish. They hang out in rivers, and you can catch them any time of day, all year round. Sounds simple enough, right? They’re not worth much, only 200 Bells, but that wasn’t the point. I needed that fish for my collection!
So, I grabbed my trusty fishing rod and headed to the river in my town. I spent hours there, casting my line over and over again. I caught a bunch of other fish – Dace, Carp, you name it. I even snagged a few rare ones, but no Barbel Steed.
Here’s a little list of what I was doing:
- Running around town like a madman, looking for the right spot.
- Casting my line near every fish shadow I saw, big or small.
- Reeling in a ton of fish, getting excited every time, only to be disappointed.
- Selling off all the extra fish I caught to Re-Tail, because my pockets were overflowing.
- Reading more tips online, hoping to find some secret technique.
I started to get a little frustrated, I won’t lie. I mean, it’s supposed to be a common fish! I even tried going to Tortimer Island, thinking maybe a change of scenery would help. Nope, still no luck. Island freshwater fish can only be accessed via the minigames. You can both catch them for the log and return them via the BOX. Hide-and-seek is the very best for this. I chose one star…but it didn’t help.
The Breakthrough
Then, one evening, I decided to give it one last shot. I went back to my usual spot by the river. It was a peaceful night, the moon was out, and the water was calm. And then, I saw it! I cast my line, held my breath, and… bam! I finally caught the Barbel Steed! I couldn’t believe it! That slippery little fish had been eluding me for days, and I finally got it! I felt a huge sense of accomplishment, like I’d just climbed Mount Everest or something. It was such a simple thing, but it made my day. I even did a little victory dance right there by the river! It shares the same habitat and duration as that of Dace. I caught a barbel steed! It just needs a barbel saddle. I couldn’t contain my excitement. It felt like a big win, even though it’s just a small part of the game.
So yeah, that’s my Barbel Steed story. It might not be the most exciting tale, but it’s a reminder that even the little things can bring you joy. And hey, now my fish collection is one step closer to being complete! Next up, I’m going after that Coelacanth. Wish me luck!
