Okay, so I finally got around to trying out that ecowise yoga mat I’ve been eyeing for ages. Thought I’d share my experience, warts and all.

First things first, I did a ton of research. I was looking for something that wasn’t going to fall apart after a few uses, and, you know, wouldn’t cost a fortune. I stumbled upon ecowise, read a bunch of reviews, and decided to take the plunge. Ordered it online, pretty straightforward process.
The mat arrived rolled up, as expected. I unrolled it and immediately noticed a slight rubbery smell. It wasn’t overpowering, just a little… present. Left it to air out for a day or so, and the smell mostly dissipated. Gotta say, the initial texture felt pretty good – not too sticky, but definitely had some grip.
Time for the real test: yoga! I usually start with some basic sun salutations. The mat felt comfortable under my hands and feet. I wasn’t slipping and sliding all over the place, which is a huge win. Did a few downward dogs, planks, and warrior poses. Still solid. The thickness was just right, provided enough cushioning without feeling too squishy.
Now, things got a little trickier when I moved onto more challenging poses, like balancing postures. I noticed that the mat had a slight tendency to shift a bit on my wooden floor. Nothing major, but something to be aware of. Maybe on carpet it would be less of an issue.
Next up, sweat test! I tend to sweat a fair amount during my practice, especially in a heated room. The mat held up pretty well, actually. It absorbed the moisture without becoming overly slippery. I did notice a few sweat marks afterwards, but they wiped off easily with a damp cloth.
After a week of using the ecowise mat daily, I’m pretty happy with it. It’s comfortable, grippy (mostly!), and seems durable enough to withstand regular use. The slight shifting on hard floors is the only real downside I’ve encountered so far. For the price, I think it’s a solid investment. Definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re looking for a decent yoga mat that won’t break the bank.

Here’s a quick rundown of what I liked and didn’t like:
- Pros:
- Good grip (for the most part)
- Comfortable thickness
- Absorbs sweat well
- Reasonable price
- Cons:
- Slight shifting on hard floors
- Initial rubbery smell
Overall, a solid 8/10 from me!
