Alright, let’s talk about what I did today. It involves my yoga mat, but not in the usual way. I actually needed to bend the thing.

Setting Things Up
So, first step, obviously, was getting the mat. It was rolled up, standing in the usual spot by the window. I grabbed it, carried it over to the middle of the room where I had some space. Then, I unrolled it completely flat onto the floor. Took a second to smooth it out, you know how they curl up at the ends sometimes.
The Bend Itself
My goal wasn’t to roll it tight today. Needed it folded, bent in half, really. Trying to squeeze it into a different storage spot temporarily. So, standing there, looking at the flat mat, I just walked to one of the shorter ends. Grabbed both corners firmly. Then, I just walked it over to the other end, folding the mat right onto itself. Like closing a really big, soft taco, maybe? Yeah, something like that.
It wasn’t super cooperative at first. The material has that bouncy, rubbery feel. It wanted to spring open a bit along the fold. So, I had to put my hands down flat along the crease and press firmly for a few seconds. Put some body weight into it. Just to convince it to stay folded.
- Unroll mat completely.
- Pick up one short end.
- Fold it over to meet the other short end.
- Press down hard on the folded edge.
That was basically the whole process. Not rocket science, but still, it’s what I did.
Finishing Up
After holding the crease for a bit, it seemed like it would stay bent. Good enough. I picked up the folded mat – it felt thicker and obviously shorter now. Carried it over to the closet I was aiming for. Slid it in vertically against the side wall. It fit much better this way than rolled up, for this specific tight spot anyway. So, yeah. Mission accomplished. Mat bent, stored. That’s the log for today’s little task.
