I’ve been wanting to get back in shape lately, but man, hitting the gym can be such a hassle. Then it hit me – why not get a stationary bike for home? So, the hunt began. I wanted something sturdy, something that wouldn’t feel like it was going to fall apart after a few uses. And you know what name kept popping up? Lemond. Yeah, the one designed with that Tour de France guy, Greg Lemond. I figured if it’s good enough for a pro cyclist, it’s probably good enough for me.
I started digging around online. Man, there are a ton of options out there. You got your basic ones for like a couple of hundred bucks, and then there are these super fancy ones that cost more than my first car! I was looking for something in the middle – good quality, but not something that would break the bank.
There were a few models that caught my eye. The Lemond Revmaster Sport seemed like a solid choice. It’s got this belt drive system, which is supposed to be smoother and quieter than the chain ones. Plus, it looked pretty sleek. Then there was the Hoist Fitness Lemond Series Pro. That one looked even more heavy-duty, built for commercial use but also good for homes, apparently. It was definitely pricier, though.
Narrowing it down
- Lemond Revmaster Sport: Belt drive, seemed like good value for the money.
- Hoist Fitness Lemond Series Pro: Super sturdy, but more expensive.
I spent a good few days going back and forth, reading reviews, comparing specs. I even tried to find some used ones online, but no luck. Finally, I decided to just go for it. I ended up getting a great deal on a brand new Lemond Revmaster Sport. The price was decent, like, under 700 bucks, which seemed reasonable for what I was getting.
The bike arrived a week later. I was super excited to use it immediately, but I was worried about putting it together. I ain’t exactly the handiest guy around. But you know what? It wasn’t that bad! The instructions were pretty clear, and I managed to get it all set up in under an hour. And let me tell you, this thing is solid. It feels like it could take a beating. I hopped on, started pedaling, and it was smooth sailing. No creaks, no wobbles, just a nice, steady ride.
I’ve been using it almost every day since, and I gotta say, I’m loving it. I can hop on whenever I want, watch some TV, and get a good workout in. Sometimes, I will also put my kid’s bike with training wheels in some adult shoes to make it stationary, so he can join me. No more excuses about not having time for the gym! Plus, I think I’ve already lost a few pounds. It is not hard to keep this habit. I feel like I made a really good investment. This Lemond bike was definitely worth it.
By the way, I heard that we can install power meter pedals on the bike to get data feedback. I may try this later!
