Okay, so I’ve been getting into yoga lately, and I gotta say, it’s been pretty sweet for chilling out and getting a bit more bendy. But there’s one thing that kinda bugs me – my yoga mat gets all sweaty and gross after a while. I was looking at those fancy yoga mat sprays in the store, but they’re kinda pricey. Then I thought, “Why not try to make my own?” So, that’s exactly what I did!
First, I did a bit of digging around to see what other people were using. Turns out, a bunch of folks just mix water and vinegar, like, half and half. That seemed easy enough, right? But I wanted something that smelled a little nicer and maybe had some extra germ-fighting power. I remembered reading something about essential oils being good for that, so I decided to throw some in there too.
I grabbed an old spray bottle from under the sink and gave it a good rinse. Then I poured in about half a cup of water and half a cup of apple cider vinegar. I figured it’s a good idea to use the apple cider kind, cause it might work better. I’m not sure, it’s just what I read. After that, I picked out a couple of essential oils that I already had: tea tree oil, ’cause I heard it’s good for killing germs, and some lavender oil ’cause it smells relaxing. I just put in like, 5 drops of each. Not too much, you know?
Here’s what I ended up with:
- Water – about 1/2 cup
- Apple cider vinegar – about 1/2 cup
- Tea tree essential oil – 5 drops
- Lavender essential oil – 5 drops
I screwed the top back on the spray bottle, gave it a good shake, and that was it! I sprayed it all over my yoga mat after my last session, wiped it down with a clean cloth, and let it air dry. It worked like a charm! My mat smelled way better, and it felt cleaner too. Plus, I saved a bunch of money by not buying one of those expensive store-bought sprays. It’s a win-win, really. I’m pretty stoked about how easy it was, and I’ll definitely keep making my own from now on. Maybe I’ll try out some different essential oil combos next time. Any suggestions?
