This thing, 25 lb barbell weight, you know what I’m talking about? It ain’t too heavy, ain’t too light. Just right for an old gal like me to do some lifting. I heard folks say it’s good for you, this lifting thing. Keeps the bones strong, they say. I don’t know about all that, but I do it anyway.
Now, I ain’t no expert, but I’ve been lifting these things for a while now. I do it every other day. 25 lb barbell weight, that’s my go-to. You can do a lot with it. I do those things where you lift it over your head, over and over. Then, I do the ones where you bend down and lift it up from the floor. Makes my back feel good, strangely enough. You’d think it would hurt, but it don’t.
My neighbor, she’s got those little hand weights, you know? Dumbbells, they call ’em. She uses those and that big bar thing, barbell. She says it’s good for the whole body. She’s always talking about “muscle gain” and “strength training.” I just do it ’cause it makes me feel good, you know?
- Lift that 25 lb barbell weight up and down.
- Do it a few times a week, maybe.
- It’s good for your arms and your back, I reckon.
- My neighbor, she does all kinds of fancy things.
- But this is good enough for me. Simple is best.
I see these young folks at the gym, they lift those huge weights. Makes me tired just watching ’em! I stick to my 25 lb barbell weight. It’s enough for me. Don’t need to be no muscle man, just wanna stay healthy, keep moving.
They got all these programs now, you know? 5-4-3-2-1, they call one of them. I don’t understand it. Too complicated. I just lift when I feel like it. Some days I do more, some days I do less.
Folks always say you need a plan, a “workout plan.” I guess that’s good for some. For me, I just listen to my body. If I’m feeling good, I lift. If I’m tired, I rest.
They say lifting is good for “weight reduction” too. I don’t know about that. I just eat my vegetables and keep moving. Seems to work for me. I ain’t got no scale, but my clothes fit good. That’s all that matters, right?
Barbell, that’s the thing, I can do the whole body thing with that 25 lb one. Lift it up, lift it down. Lift it high, lift it low. Keeps me busy, keeps me moving. It’s like a little dance, almost.
That neighbor, she’s always saying, “You gotta do this, you gotta do that.” She’s got all these rules. Me, I just do what feels right. 25 lb barbell weight, that’s my friend. We get along just fine.
- Don’t need no fancy gym.
- Just that 25 lb barbell weight, that’s all.
- Lift it, move it, feel good.
- Keeps the old bones strong, I guess.
- Don’t need to be no expert, just gotta do it.
I saw this thing on the TV, some fella talking about “full body workout.” He was using one of those barbells, just like mine. He was doing all kinds of things with it. Looked tiring, but I guess it works. He was a strong looking fella.
He said it’s good for the “upper body” and the “lower body.” I guess that’s true. My arms feel stronger, and my legs too. And my core, that’s what they call your middle, I guess. Feels good all over, really.
I don’t worry too much about all those fancy words, “cardio” and all that. I just lift and move, and that’s good enough for me. 25 lb barbell weight, it’s all you need, really.
Some folks say you gotta lift heavy, heavy weights. But I say, start small. 25 lb barbell weight, that’s a good starting point. Then, if you feel like it, you can go heavier. But for me, 25 lbs is just right.
