Okay, so, I’ve been doing yoga for a while now, and I’m a pretty tall guy. Finding a mat that fits me well has always been a bit of a struggle. I finally decided to take the plunge and get myself a really long yoga mat, an 84-inch one, and let me tell you, it’s been a game-changer.
I started by doing some digging online. I read a bunch of stuff, some folks talking about how great these extra-long mats are for taller people, how they are wide, and some even mentioned a brand called Tatago, which sounded interesting.
Then I started looking at different brands, some called it an “XL Yoga Mat”, some called it just an “Extra Long Yoga Mat”. Then, I stumbled upon this one, specifically marketed for “tall yogis” which caught my eye. I figured, why not give it a shot? 84 inches is a full seven feet! That’s plenty of room for me.
- I ordered it.
- It arrived a few days later.
- I unpacked it.
First thing I noticed, this thing is wide. Like, really wide. And it is long, just as advertised. The extra width is actually really nice, gives me more space to move around during poses. I also found out that the material is natural rubber, it feels different, but good.
I laid it out on the floor and tried a few poses. Down dog, warrior poses, all felt so much better with the extra length. No more feeling cramped or like my feet are dangling off the edge! My feet no longer slip during some moves, because the mat’s surface provides me with a great grip. I guess it’s made for hot yoga, which explains the non-slip surface, this works for me.
Here’s the thing
This mat has seriously improved my practice. I can stretch out fully, focus on my form, and not worry about slipping or running out of space. If you’re a taller person doing yoga, or if you just want more room to move, I highly recommend looking into an 84-inch yoga mat. It might seem like a small thing, but it really makes a big difference.
It’s a solid purchase, and I’m pretty stoked about it. It is just a better experience overall. Now I can actually enjoy my yoga sessions without constantly adjusting my position. And the natural rubber material feels pretty good under my hands and feet.
Anyway, just wanted to share my experience. Hope this helps someone out there who’s in the same boat as me!
