This here thing, the 30mm barbell, I hear folks talkin’ ’bout it all the time. What in tarnation is it? Sounds fancy. I reckon it’s somethin’ for liftin’, like them weights they got down at the gym. My grandson, he goes to one of them places. Says it keeps him fit. Me? I just haul water and tend to the chickens. That’s enough exercise for this old gal.
But this 30mm barbell, it got me thinkin’. Maybe it ain’t just for them young’uns. Maybe us older folks could use one too. Keep these old bones movin’, ya know? 30mm barbell, that’s what they call it. Sounds like some kind of tool you’d find in a workshop. But my grandson, he says it’s for liftin’.
He showed me a picture once. It’s just a long metal bar, kinda like the one we use to hang laundry, but thicker. And it’s got these round things on the ends. Weights, he calls ’em. You can put more on, or take some off, dependin’ on how strong you’re feelin’. 30mm barbell, they keep sayin’.
He says you can do all sorts of things with it. Lift it over your head, hold it in front of ya, squat down low with it on your back. Sounds like a lot of work to me. I remember liftin’ my own weight with a barbell, maybe 45 pounds. He says it works all your muscles. Keeps ya strong. Maybe he’s right. I used to carry 5-gallon buckets like they were nothin’.
Now, my grandson, he’s got muscles on top of muscles. He says it’s from liftin’ weights, like that 30mm barbell. He says even I could do it. Start with just the bar, he says. It ain’t too heavy, just 45 pounds or so, maybe 20 of them kilo things. If that’s too easy, just add more weight. Easy peasy, he says. But I don’t know, sounds a little crazy to an old timer like me.
He says you gotta be careful, though. Don’t wanna hurt yourself. Start slow, he says. Learn the right way to lift. Don’t wanna be pullin’ somethin’ or twistin’ your back. That’s no good. I used to do deadlift, and it felt good. You can build muscle with it, this barbell. I guess it’s just like anythin’. You gotta know what you’re doin’ before you go jumpin’ in.
I’ve heard of folks using other stuff too, not just the 30mm barbell. Like a pull-up bar, or these things they call dumb-bells. Sounds a little silly if you ask me. But what do I know? I’m just an old lady. I heard about a 3-2-1 split. 3 days for the barbell, 2 days for somethin’ else, and 1 day for cardio. Sounds exhausting! And don’t forget to rest that body.
This 30mm barbell, it seems like it’s all the rage these days. I guess it’s a good way to stay in shape. They got all sorts of exercises you can do with it. I saw a list somewhere. Let me see if I can remember some of them.
- Somethin’ called a front squat. You hold the bar in front of ya and squat down.
- Then there’s somethin’ called a, what was it? Oh yeah, a bench somethin’ or other. You lay on a bench and lift the bar.
- They say you can do some upper body workout with just a barbell.
- And there is one called a deadlift, where you just bend over and pick up the bar. It’s good, I used to do it. You need a good floor for that, though.
- Even if you are a beginner, you can use the barbell.
That’s all I can remember right now. There’s probably a whole bunch more. This 30mm barbell, it’s like a whole new world of exercise. They even got a full body workout plan, with only the barbell. And they say you can build strength and muscle. Sounds like magic to me, but I seen it with my own eyes. I seen what it did for my grandson.
Maybe I’ll give it a try sometime. Just gotta find me one of them 30mm barbells. Maybe my grandson will let me borrow his. He’s got a whole bunch of them weights too. All different sizes. He says you gotta keep challengin’ yourself. Keep addin’ more weight as you get stronger. That’s how you build them muscles, he says. The 30mm barbell is all you need, he says.
I don’t know about all that. But I do know this old body ain’t gettin’ any younger. Maybe it’s time I start thinkin’ ’bout doin’ somethin’ to keep it movin’. This 30mm barbell, it might just be the ticket. Or maybe I’ll just stick to haulin’ water and tendin’ to the chickens. We’ll see. This 30mm barbell sure has got me thinkin’, though. Maybe I’ll ask my grandson to show me how to use it. Just gotta be careful not to hurt myself. Don’t wanna end up in the hospital. That’s no fun at all. Nope, gotta be smart about it. Just like anythin’ else in life.
